Pet-friendly apartments at your service

Your kitty and your pooch are part of the family. No doubt about it. And they would never leave your side, especially when times get tough. Likewise, you would never leave their side. So, why have so many cats and dogs found themselves homeless during this real estate tsunami?
The stock market plunged, businesses closed, and families lost their homes. Some families lost jobs and houses that they owned while others found themselves in a financial tug-o-war between their landlords who lost the properties and the banks that took them.
Faced with an imminent need to move, many individuals spent weeks searching for pet-friendly properties in which to relocate but unfortunately they were slapped in the face by the reality that many rental properties don’t allow pets, let alone dogs. The result? Families who fail to locate pet-friendly residences are often forced to surrender Fluffy and Fido to shelters, where most of these healthy, happy companions are put to sleep and only a few lucky ones are adopted out to new homes. So, what can you do if you suddenly find yourself in a housing predicament?
We have included a list of some of the pet-friendly apartments between Pittsburg and Brentwood. Remember, this is only a partial list; there are many apartments in East Contra Costa County that accept cats and dogs (even large breed dogs). This is merely a starting point in the right direction. If you don’t find the community you need in this list, please don’t give up the search. With patience and perseverance you can find a place for you and your furry friends.
