When the kittens were 15 weeks old the time came to put Marmie and her babies up for adoption. Jeremy and I took the brood to PETsMART one Sunday where all but one kitten was adopted out. The kitten left with us was, Snowflake. Because he was the kitty left he slept on our bed with us, in the cove of my armpit that night.

The following week we tried again – offering up this little guy (whom I had already fallen deeply in love with) to only a select few people. His spunky personality and solid black appearance was intimating to most.

After a heart wrenching day of thinking no one wanted to love this bundle of spirit the realization hit me: We couldn't FIND him a home because he already had the perfect one!

Snowflake is now a 20 lb., blast of energy that indulges in giving us daily tongue baths and curling up with us during movies and bedtime.

SNOWFLAKE
Snowflake came to my husband, Jeremy, and I in the spring of 2003. As a new volunteer with H.A.L.O. we had just taken on the responsibility of fostering a pregnant kitty named Marmie. One week into fostering she gave birth to five healthy little tikes. The kitties all lived in a spare bedroom with their momma, which we affectionately named, The Nursery.

For one month we talked about her steadily. She had made an imprint on our minds. Finally, I called the dog manager, Joyce, and asked her if Jeremy and I could stop by, possibly to adopt Duchess…and we did.

She quickly made herself at home with our three cats and has become an integral part of the family. She indulges in 2 mile walks, play dates with pup pals, and lots of naps. Her calm demeanor, pouty eyes, and eager personality have made her a hit with friends and family and have also made her a top notch companion.

DUCHESS

Formerly known as Weenie, Duchess was taken into the H.A.L.O. foster program from the Antioch Animal Shelter where she was tagged to be euthanized.

Duchess came to my husband and I during a H.A.L.O. Board Meeting in the summer of 2004. Duchess made herself at home atop Jeremy's lap during the Board meeting where, for three hours, she refused to budge.
